Hershey’s Kitchen Live at Chocolate World

I was surprised when I received a shipping notification from UPS for a package from Chocolate World.  I know I hadn’t ordered anything from the store, so I was interested to see what was coming.  The package just arrived and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

Something very special is coming to Chocolate World at Hersheypark next week.  If you live in the area I recommend you hop in the car and be sure to check it out.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn about Hershey’s decorating secrets, wanted to make some goodies with their bakers, or just wanted to get a behind the scenes look.  Now’s your chance, visit Hershey’s Chocolate World on November 12th and 13th for the special Hershey’s Kitchens Live!.  The show is about 30 minutes and you get to experience interactive activities with special celebrity host Kerri Pomarolli.  Show times for each day is listed below:

Saturday, November 12th: 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 7pm, 8pm

Sunday, November 13th: 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm.

To learn more about the event visit the Hershey’s Chocolate World Attraction website and the Hersheys Kitchen to learn about their new online portal and the introduction of the new Sea Salt Caramel Baking Chips.  I bet you’re still wondering what was in my box right.  Check it out.

Yep my toddler totally wanted to grab everything in the box, well mostly the serving set that was in the box.  It’s the first thing he reached for inside.

I was in heaven opening this box.  I love baking so this was like Christmas morning for me.  So much goodies in one box.

So many great flavor options to try.  I can’t wait to try the Sea Salt Caramel Baking Chips.  And bonus points for the new recipe book.  I already spied two cake recipes and one pie I’ll be making and sharing on my blog.  I wish we going to Hershey just to get in on one of the shows, I know it will be a fun time for all.

Create Your Own Candy Bar in Chocolate World at Hersheypark

My family and I love Hersheypark, and this year I signed on as a #SweetestMoms Ambassador for the park.  We’ve been a few times to the park, and other attractions around the park, however I will say Chocolate World is usually our last stop for chocolate before heading home.

Did you know that Hershey’s Chocolate World at Hersheypark has five attractions?  We’d never paid much attention to the attractions inside of Chocolate World in the past.  On our most recent trip we got to experience some of those attractions, and I have to say we will be spending more time inside Chocolate World during future visits.

If you’re visiting Hersheypark and you find yourself in Chocolate World, I would highly recommend checking out Hershey’s Chocolate Tour.  The complimentary tour was recently updated, to make it even better.  See, feel, hear and smell the transformation of cocoa beans to HERSHEY’S famous chocolate on this fun tour. Then, enjoy a FREE Hershey’s product sample at the end of the tour.  There are usually lines for the attraction so I suggest planning properly and adding in the wait time when planning.

Thanks to Hershey’s Chocolate World we were given the option to try a few of the attractions, the kids wanted to do the Create Your Own Candy Bar attraction because they wanted the candy bar at the end.  We arrived at Chocolate World and signed up for our time slot.  We didn’t know that time slots filled up so fast, so I recommend you head to Chocolate World early to book your desired time slot.  We ended up having a few hours to kill before our scheduled time so we headed inside the park for a couple of hours until it was time to start making our candy bar.

We started the process by getting a gown and hair net.  J.B. wore his at first but quickly pulled it off.  We talked to the person at the entrance and explained his Autism and sensory issues and he told us it was fine for him to enter without the hair net.  The process takes about 45 minutes from start to finish.  There is an express option that costs a bit more.  The Create Your Own Candy Bar experience at Chocolate World at Hesheypark costs $17.95 per person.  Kids 2 and under do not need a ticket if they are not creating a chocolate bar.  Children 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Make sure you hold on to your ticket through the entire process because you will need it at all the stations along the way.  The first step is to watch a safety video about the process and making your candy bar.  Next we started by choosing the kind of chocolate we wanted for our base bar, the inclusions, and whether we wanted sprinkles or not.  My whole family choose to get milk chocolate bars, the kids added sprinkles on the tops of their bars, and we all choose different inclusions.

The next part of the process included watching your candy bar drop on the belt and see the inclusions added to your candy bar.  This is the longest part of the waiting process because you have to wait for everyone in front of you o watch their bar come down the line.

After watching the bars being made we walked into another room to design the outer box for our special candy bar.

Designing the  wrapper was super easy.  We were able to pick a wrapper that we designed or use the one they had already created for us.  My husband ended up with the one created by Chocolate World but the rest of us had custom creations.

At the end of the line Hershey’s Chocolate World employees placed our candy bars in reusable metal tins and placed our custom wrappers around them.  They gave them back to us with out ticket for souvenirs.  Our family really enjoyed the chocolate bars and the experience.  We can’t wait to try some of the other activities included at Chocolate World.

The Great Chocolate Factory Mystery in 4D is another attraction at Chocolate World at Hersheypark.  With over 100 possible out comes, you can see the show multiple times and never seen the same show.  I want to also mention that this show does have strobe lights, and smoke, which can be a problem for people with sensory issues like our son.  I would talk to the staff at Chocolate World before booking to make sure your party can enjoy the experience.  Tickets for 4D Mystery cost $7.95 for 13 and older, $6.95 for children 3-12, and free for kids 2 and under.

The Chocolate Tasting Experience is another attraction at Chocolate World. Chocolate lovers will enjoy this experience tasting chocolate between milk to dark, and other varieties in between.  Tickets for the chocolate tasting costs $10.95 for 13 and older, $7.95 for children 3-12, and free for kids 2 and under.

I had the opportunity to take the Hershey Trolley Works Tour when I attended my Sweet Welcome Blogger Trip last year.  It was amazing to take the 75 minute tour learning about all things Hershey.  All tours depart from Hershey’s Chocolate World.  The tours run 364 days a year, rain or shine, expect in snow.  The Trolley Works Tour was very informative and we received all kinds of chocolate samples on the tour.  We even saw the home of Mr. Milton Hershey.  The tour price varies from $12.95 for ages 3-12  and $15.95 for ages 13 and older, children 2 and under are free.

To plan your next trip to Hersheypark visit their website and be sure to connect with them on social media on Facebook and Twitter.  Also download the Hersheypark app to keep before you visit the park so you’re ready for a day of fun when you arrive.

Be sure to check out my other Hersheypark posts as well by searching the #SweetestMoms hashtag on my blog and social media.
