McFarland Perfect for Family Movie Night

McFarland Perfect for Family Movie Night

I’ve been waiting for McFarland to be released so my family could see it.  I was first introduced to the movie last November while I was in LA for the Big Hero 6 Event.  The bloggers had and opportunity to screen the movie before anyone.  It was amazing then and I couldn’t wait for everyone else to see how good the movie truly is.

McFarland

McFarland was released on Blu-Ray and Disney Digital on June, 2nd, if you haven’t purchased it yet I highly suggest you pick up this movie to add to your collection.  McFarland perfect for family movie night, it’s a film that will remind you that hard work and dedication pays off.  I loved the team spirit displayed in this movie and the family feel as well.  When the coach and his family moved to McFarland they couldn’t imagine how close they would end up with the rest of their community.  To have a bond so strong that they joined together to help the team and make the family feel welcomed.

My whole family loved McFarland and I think yours will as well.  My husband coaches football and this past year he also coached basketball and the movie really resonated with him, he knows what it’s like to have athletes who seem to have the whole world on their shoulders and the careful balance it takes to push them pass their personal lives and into greatness.  He said he would be sharing this movie with his teams from now on.  McFarland is the prefect reminder that you shouldn’t count yourself out, even when everyone else has.  Pick up the blu-ray in stores now and see why this film is both inspirational and entertaining.

About McFarland USA:

In the tradition of Disney sports movies comes “McFarland, USA” based on a true story of underdogs triumphing over tremendous obstacles. This heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team under Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner) in their predominantly Latino high school. Everyone has a lot to learn about each other, but when Coach realizes the boys’ exceptional running ability, things change. Beyond their talent, it’s the power of family, commitment to each other and work ethic that transform them into champions — helping them achieve their own American dream.

McFarland, USA Trailer

While in LA for my Big Hero 6 Press Trip we had the opportunity to see an early preview of McFarland, USA.  At the time of the screening we were the first members of the press to see the movie, the trailer hadn’t even premiered yet.  We were extremely lucky to see the movie so early and I can’t wait to share details with your closer to the release date.  It’s a very heart warming family movie and if you have kids that are athletes, especially runners, you’ll want to mark your calender for February 20th, 2015 to see the movie when it’s released.

Inspired by the 1987 true story, “McFarland, USA” follows novice runners from McFarland, an economically challenged town in California’s farm-rich Central Valley, as they give their all to build a cross-country team under the direction of Coach Jim White (Kevin Costner), a newcomer to their predominantly Latino high school. Coach White and the McFarland students have a lot to learn about each other but when White starts to realize the boys’ exceptional running ability, things begin to change. Soon something beyond their physical gifts becomes apparent—the power of family relationships, their unwavering commitment to one another and their incredible work ethic. With grit and determination, the unlikely band of runners eventually overcomes the odds to forge not only a championship cross-country team but an enduring legacy as well. Along the way, Coach White realizes that his family finally found a place to call home and both he and his team achieve their own kind of American dream.
