I’m behind on my writing prompts, I have been in a huge funk and it’s taken a toll on my blogging and everything else. So I’m trying to catch up now. One of the writing prompts from this past week was to tell something you love about your significant other, pet or someone else. So I decided to write ten things I love about my husband.
We are nothing a like and totally the same all in the same breathe. I do believe we are each other’s ying and yang.
He works hard to provide for his family and never makes me feel bad about not working. When I was pregnant with our second child I told him I think I wanted to be a stay at home mother, to which he responded “we’ll figure out how to make it happen.” You have to love a man that supports his family.
He is supportive and giving to his family members and friends. He’s always ready to lend a hand when and where he can.
He’s a man of God. He strives to live in the ways that God would want him to live. He prays
He loves his children.
He’s selfless in so many ways. I am a very selfless person and having a husband that’s same way our children are always our first priority. I’m glad I have this in a husband. I know he’ll go without so we (our children and I) can have things that we need and want.
He’s a people person. I don’t know if it’s his southern values or just the way he was raised but the is a social moth. He’s friendly and very personable. As long as you’re not judgmental of him, you’ve got a friend.
He volunteers and give back to his community and others. He’s a mentor and is always finding ways to share what he has with others.
He can almost always make you laugh, not just a small laugh but one that could help you forget about your troubles for a bit.
I love that he loves me, he’s my heart and my soul, one of the greatest gifts God has ever given me and though he is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination he loves me just the way I am and all I can do is love him the same. Unconditionally.
What’s something you love about your spouse/significant other?
It’s funny that the prompt for today is how do you overcome writer’s block. I wish I had an answer for that because I’ve had writer’s block today. There’s so much I want to write and things I should be doing but the words just don’t want to flow in my fingers. They are stuck in my head, doing a dance but refusing to leave to appear on the screen. Here are some things I’ve tried in the past to help with overcoming the block.
Listen to music. Music seems to help a lot when I just can’t get the work done.
Use a writing prompt. Yes prompts like these help me write about something I may not have thought about writing on my blog.
Take a moment to relax a bit and then try again.
Try writing something not related to my blog at all.
Visit other blogs, sometimes it helps me find ideas for posts and I get to catch up on some of my favorite blogs.
Clear out my emails.
Work on cleaning up my older posts on my blog.
Head to Pinterest, there’s always something to find on Pinterest.
Search and enter some giveaways on other blogs.
Read some of the books on my TBR list.
Enjoy some family time with my kids until I get the urge to write again.
Relax, relax, relax.
I can’t force the words to come, I feel like when I do they don’t seem genuine and readers can sense when you are forcing something so I just distract my self until I get the writing bug again and start working on all the things I want to do. What about you? Do you ever get writer’s block and if you do what do you do to help?
Do you remember having a crush on a celebrity dream boat when you were a teenage and now would be totally embarrassed to mention it? Yes you do! LOL! Well here are a few of mines. These are some of my embarrassing celebrity crushes for my teens.
Who didn’t have a crush on these guys? Admit it you probably did as well. LOL. It’s just something about boy bands that make girls go gaga crazy over them. Maybe it’s their voices (probably not so much because usually there are only about two that can really sing). I don’t know for sure but I really liked this group and then there was A.J from Blackstreet Boys
Yep I sure did have a huge crush on this guy and I am pretty sure I’m not the only girl that will admit to this one. Now I look at him and I am like what the heck was I drooling over in the first place. Eeeek!!!!! He may still be hunky to someone though but just not me.
Yes I loved Immature or IMX as they were later called, especially Marques Houston, my sister got first dibs on Romeo. LOL. Romeo is on the left and Marques is in the middle. They guys were the hottest thing since slice bread to me but there were times when they would look just plain pitiful to me. Like this…
Now they just don’t look so hot to me. Of the three I think Marques is still doing things in either music or acting or both.
I think that’s it for now. I could just go on and on about my old crushes. I should note that I did have a crush on JT and he is still hot, well at least he says he is. LOL. What about you, do you have any old crushes that would embarrass you now?
It also describes the sensation of having glimpsed oneself in peripheral vision, in a position where there is no chance that it could have been a reflection.
Doppelgängers often are perceived as a sinister form of bilocation and are regarded by some to be harbingers of bad luck. In some traditions, a doppelgänger seen by a person’s friends or relatives portends illness or danger, while seeing one’s own doppelgänger is said to be an omen of death.
So yeah of course I was freaking out like I don’t know what that is and if that’s the case I surely don’t want to met them. Well I continued to read and it also said:
In the contemporary vernacular of some English speakers, the word may be found used simplistically to identify any look-alike of a person, without regard to the supernaturalness and fundamental doubling intended in the meaning of the word.
So I decided to go with the latter. No need to scare myself silly, right? I hope I don’t have nightmares tonight. 🙁 Back on the subject of my doppelganger, I have to say when I was younger and in Secondary School in Trinidad my teachers would all ask me about this girl at the school and refer to her as my sister. Since my older sister had attended the school before me I naturally assumed they were talking about her. It wasn’t until one day a teacher said to me “Oh you just missed your sister”, I was surprised since she was supposed to be in school and didn’t mention to me she was going to be dropping in. So I asked my teacher was she looking for me and she said no. I thought it was odd. So when I asked my sister about it she said she was not at the school. The next day another teacher said the same thing and so I asked my teacher where did she go. I followed his directions and there I was standing face to face with a girl that looked just like me only a little older but we were not related at all. I wish I remembered her name but people called us sisters for that whole year almost before we finally met and realized just how much we looked alike.
My best friend’s mother on the other hand would swear I looked like Brandy. I don’t see it but she says so.
I still don’t think we look alike at all. Maybe if I could find a picture of her without makeup. What about you do you have a look-alike?
I picked Nicole because I like her personal style. I really like that she’s married with children and she works with charities. I loved her in the Soul Food television series and I think she’s a great actress. Plus she’s married to Boris Kodjoe so he could play my husband in the movie and I would feel like we were both represented well.
So I asked my husband about this prompt and who he would want to play me in a movie and she said Kerry Washington
Ms. Washington is probably mostly know now for her role as Olivia Pope on Scandal. The role that makes her the ideal actress to play me according to my husband. Except for the scandal of having an affair with the president part. His response was that she reminds him of me when I was Student Government President. We met at a leadership conference for African American students, so he could see me in a leadership role of politics. I wonder how she would portray the stay at home mother of three role?
Lastly I asked the kids what actress would play me in a movie. Their response…
Yep since my kids are only 4 and 5 I figured it would be a cartoon of some sort. My son said right away he wanted Muno to play me in a movie. I think this has more to do with him wanting to met Muno that anything else. My daughter was stuck and didn’t have any idea and when she heard what my son said she picked Foofa.
So there you have it. Do you know what actress or actor you would want to play you in a movie?

Today’s writing prompt is about music and the soundtrack of your life.
I love music! It’s the one thing that I feel can convey exactly how you are feeling in different stages of your life. Each song means something different at different times. Sometimes the same song takes on new meaning when things change in your life. I want to share some of the songs on the soundtrack of Nicki’s life. I’ll share the meaning to each song under the video. These are a few of the song on the soundtrack of my life.
I grew up in Trinidad and this is what we call Soca music. The artist singing most you probably won’t know but his name is Super Blue and I couldn’t share any thing about Soca music and not mention him. He was one the main artist I grew up listening to and Carnival in Trinidad was not the same if you didn’t hear a song from Super Blue. I share this with you as the music of my culture and upbringing. This reminds me of home and warm sun rays, Carnival parties and mud mas. J’Overt morning, Moko jumbies, and the beginning and the end. See in Trinidad Carnival Monday and Tuesday marks the last days before the beginning of Lent. People party, drink, have fun and then they fast for Lent. Although I love my life living in MD, I still long for comforts of home and that includes the music.
My family moved to the US when I was in high school and I think it was the first time I had any sign of depression in my life. Everything was brand new and things were nothing like it was in Trinidad. I couldn’t just go play with my friends, even calling them was a feat because it was an international call. School was so much more different. This song is what helped me sleep at high and helped me get through. I ended up in an honors program and graduated in the top 1% of my high school class. This song would be on repeat until I fell asleep. This song still touches me now, because I am fighting back tears listening to the music. #Powerful.
This was always the song I though would be my wedding song. I love this artist so much I even started a yahoo fan club for him. It’s still a great song but it wasn’t my wedding song. I didn’t have one because I ended up having a small intimate wedding.
This is me and my husband’s song. It’s a long story but I’m his sunshine and he’s my moonlight.
I love Adele and I really liked this song and this fan created video. I watched it daily when I was pregnant with my youngest son.
This is the last one I’ll share, we just got hooked on Just Dance 4 and the kids love this song. We sing it in the car up loud and it’s just so much fun. Here’s the video game version.
I love writing prompts they get the creative juices flowing and helps you share with different ideas you may not think about on your own. This is my first time linking up with Cheap Is The New Classy for their #moreclassywriting prompts. Today the topic is Who is your favorite male actor?
This is a very easy one for me. I know a lot of people will have names like George Clooney, Bruce Willis, Denzel and actors like that. For me it’s always been Laurence Fishburne. I just love his acting. The first time I remember seeing him was an old movie when he was younger and I’ve liked his acting style since. He was great in the Matrix and has also done some directing. He has work credits in film, stage and television. The only role I didn’t like was his portrayal of Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It. I just couldn’t get with his being such an abusive man. I later read that he turned down the role several times until they made changes to made him more comfortable with the role. He was the first black actor to play Othello on the stage and still continues to make great strides in acting.
He is currently married and has three children. You may have heard about his daughter Montana Fishburne staring in an adult film, which caused him to allegedly cut ties with her. He also has a new television show coming out this April called Hannibal on the NBC network.
