Adventures in Babysitting, the 100th Disney Channel Original Movie premiered on the Disney Channel a few days ago and now you can pick up the movie on DVD today. If your family fell in love with the movie after watching it on Disney Channel you can now add the DVD to your collection. I had the opportunity to screen the movie in April during the #CaptainAmericaEvent. We even had the opportunity to sit down with Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson, be sure to read the interview.
During our interview with Sabrina and Sofia, they mentioned some of the bloopers that were going to be on the DVD. Sabrina was excited for her fans to see all her bloopers in the car. I absolutely loved the movie, it was funny and one that I knew the whole family could enjoy. Sabrina and Sofia did an awesome job in the movie, and all the kids in the film made it really good.
About Adventures in Babysitting
“Adventures in Babysitting,” unfolds when Jenny Parker (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola Perez (Sofia Carson), two teen girls with distinctly different personalities, each interview for a coveted photography internship and accidently swap phones. When the Anderson family calls Jenny’s phone looking for a last-minute babysitter, audacious Lola, in need of some extra cash, picks up and nominates herself. Meanwhile, dependable Jenny is already set to babysit the Cooper family for the evening. Unfortunately, Lola’s first attempt at babysitting takes an unforeseen turn when one of the Anderson kids sneaks out to go to a concert. Jenny, determined to protect her reputation, and Lola with the remaining kids in tow, head out and have the adventure of a lifetime during one magical night in the big city.
The Disney Channel Original Movie also stars Nikki Hahn as introverted teen Emily Cooper, Mallory James Mahoney as young fashionista Katy Cooper, Max Gecowets as the rebellious Trey Anderson, Jet Jurgensmeyer as chef wunderkind Bobby Anderson, Madison Horcher as roller derby fanatic Alison “AJ” Anderson and Kevin Quinn (Disney Channel’s “BUNK’D”) as Jenny’s crush Zac Chase.
One of the main things I loved about this movie is the main characters and the lessons you can learn from the film. Both babysitters are so different but the more time they spend with each other, the more they realize they have so much in common. Lola played by Sofia Carson is free spirited and she thinks outside the box. When she first started with her babysitting job she didn’t take it seriously. Jenny played by Sabrina Carpenter is a little more uptight and she takes her job and everything else very seriously. By the end of the movie Jenny and Lola both rub off on each other in positive ways.
One of my favorite scenes from the movie is the rap battles the girls have in the club. Check it out below.
And if you’ve been bopping your head to the song Wildside, then you have to check out the awesome video with Sabrina and Sofia.

Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson on Adventures in Babysitting
A few months ago during the Captain America Civil War Event our group had the opportunity to screen the newest Disney Channel Original Movie Adventures in Babysitting. The movie which stars Sabrina Carpenter and Sofia Carson is the 100th DCOM, which premieres on June 24th at 8 PM/ET on Disney Channel.
“Adventures in Babysitting,” inspired by the hugely popular 1980s film of the same name, is an upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie starring Sabrina Carpenter (of Disney Channel’s hit comedy series “Girl Meets World”) and Sofia Carson (of the hit Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants”). In “Adventures in Babysitting,” a dull evening for two competing babysitters, Jenny (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola (Sofia Carson), turns into an adventure in the big city as they hunt for one of the kids who somehow snuck away.
While this new version is inspired by the original 1980s film, it’s not a remake. It follows the same story line but it has a more modern and up to date, making it easy for teens and tweens to relate to the whole story. Fans of the original can still however watch this one and get a sense of nostalgia while making new memories with their children. Sabrina and Sofia sat down and chatted with us about their roles in the film, being role models for young girls, and their developing careers. Here’s some of the amazing interview we had with the ladies.
Sabrina and Sofia talked about how much they enjoyed working with the five kids from the movie. Sofia added that she felt like they were all like family, they would have sleepovers on the weekends, and they did lots and lots of singing.
When asked about the funniest thing about each other. Sabrina shared that Sofia wasn’t funny at all, but they did an amazing job with the script. Sofia laughed responding that she was going to say the same thing, that she wasn’t funny but felt like Sabrina is the funniest person you’ve ever met.
When asked about stunts in the movie Sabrina shared a fun story with us about how she slightly injured herself doing a stunt for the movie. She laughed about it when sharing the details because she felt like it was such a simple way to get an injury.
It’s the beginning of the movie when Lola was first introduced, I’m carrying the painting in my arms. I had to run down the hill pretty quickly, jump over a lawn mover which was about this big. And the second I hit the pavement, I just wiped out. All you hear was a thump. And you just see me disappear behind the car. – Sofia Carson
Sofia didn’t let the injury stop her from finishing up the scene and the rest of the movie. You may notice her limping in the movie.
Sabrina started filming the movie at fifteen, when we sat down with her she just turned seventeen, so we asked about her driving skills, since she does have a few scenes where she’s driving in the movie.
Sabrina: I got to pretend drive.
Sofia: She did it! She did it!
Sabrina: Sofia would help me, she would say Sabrina, go right. Go left! I would, like, take my hands off, or forget to turn on my turn signal, cause I don’t drive. There are a lot of bloppers of me in the car.
You can catch some of those bloppers on the Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD versions of the film.
We were wondering if the girls felt like they would relate to the characters they played in the movie.
Sofia: I would say I’m kind of an in between. Lola is this really cool free spirited young girl who isn’t afraid to just live life, despite the consequences of sometimes making irresponsible decisions. But she’s really passionate about her art. And a very strong girl. And I’m also very passionate about… I think we both are, about what we do about our music and acting.
And we’re both also… I’m just gonna answer this for both of us. We’re both also independent girls. You know. Both of us have really strong, incredible moms. And they taught us to be strong girls, or represent girl power. And Lola and Jenny are both like that. ‘Cause Jenny would know she’s a little bit more inside the box. She’s still a strong, powerful young girl and we both save the day together.
Sabrina: What she said- It’s true, though! I take from Lola because she’s got that edgy sense of humor, and she’s very passionate about her art. Whereas Jenny can’t be creative to save her life, and I think that’s kind of what I spend my life doing. But I will say that I am sort of a perfectionist like Jenny, I think that’s good in our industry. Just to make sure that we’re always putting our best foot forward…
We asked about the girls sharing their favorite scenes from the movie. They both had different parts they liked the most.
Sofia: Oh, um… My favorite part of the movie… One of my favorite scenes, besides where we first meet, ’cause I think that totally shows the, the dynamic of these two new babysitters, and gets you ready for the adventure that you’re about to go on. Also the rap battle.
Sabrina: I love the simple bathroom makeover scene for Jenny. Just because it’s like a time where she’s not getting a full makeover where they’re glamming her up and making her look like someone she’s not. But just kind of letting her hair down in a way where she can be a little bit more adventurous like Lola. It just kind of shows you what she’s taken from this whole adventure that they’ve had together, and how she’s a little bit more confident than she was before.
Quite a few of us moms had daughters who are fans of both girls, including my own daughter. They are both great role models for young girls to look up to, but I wanted to know about how they felt about using social media to connect with their fans in a way that was never possible in the past.
Sofia: It’s really… one of my favorite parts of our job. Apart from being able to do what we love every day. We get to feel and share so much love with your daughters, and your sons, and it really means the world to us to know that they take their time out of their day to make photos for us, make videos for us. When we meet them, they get emotional, and I almost always get very emotional as well, because it’s still surreal to me that someone can look up to you and care about you so much, and you could feel the same way about them. I know that social media’s really the best way to stay connected to them.
Sabrina: I really feel like you can talk to them directly and they can talk to us directly. It was my birthday just on Sunday, and the amount of love that I received from all of my fans was just so beautiful. Really made me feel so loved, and I just hope to give it all back to them. ‘Cause we’re here because of them.
Sofia: with social media nowadays it’s really special. The fact that you could make someone’s day, and you don’t even know them. Or you could get to know someone that quickly is wonderful. And I think it’s nice to have that instinct connection.
Don’t forget Adventures in Babysitting premieres Friday, June 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel. For now you can check out the first ten minutes, or if you have Video on Demand you can see the movie ahead of everyone else.
Visit Kings Dominion During Special Events for More Fun
Last week I shared about out visit to Kings Dominion and how much the kids enjoyed Planet Snoopy. We visited during the Spring Bloom Festival and the main reason we went at the end of the festival is because my daughter is a huge Sabrina Carpenter fan so when we saw her on the schedule I knew that was the perfect date to visit.
You may not know that when you purchase your ticket to Kings Dominion you are also entitled to some bonus fun. We had the opportunity to see Sabrina Carpenter for free, included in our ticket price. Guests visiting the park the day we visited had the option to purchase VIP tickets to the Sabrina Carpenter concert or find one of the regular seating options at the Kingswood Amphitheater. Seating was first come first served so if you’re planning on attending any events there be sure to get there at least an hour before show time.
When we arrived and got checked in we waited in line for the entrance to open, we ended up in the last row for VIP so we were a few rows from the stage but still close enough for my daughter to enjoy the show.
She was excited and smiling the entire time we were at the concert which lasted about an hour. Sabrina sang her hits and a free covers of her favorite artists. It was packed and every one enjoyed it so much. It was a great experience and I couldn’t believe it was included in the price of the admission ticket to the park.
I so happy that my family had the opportunity to hear Sabrina Carpenter preform. It was an amazing show and my daughter will never forget the experience. If you’re planning a visit to the park be sure to visit Kings Dominion Special Events page to learn more about their upcoming entertainment options heading to the park including Imagination Movers, Choo Choo Soul, Joyfest, and Kingsfest.
