In 1915, Marion Barton Skaggs, an ambitious young man, purchased his father’s tiny grocery store in American Falls, Idaho. The chain operated in two separate businesses with the help of his five brothers. They had a business strategy to offer customers cheaper prices, and to expand by keeping a lower profit margin. This strategy proved to be spectacularly successful, and by 1926, he owned 428 Skaggs stores in 10 states.

In the same year, Marion doubled the size of the business by merging the company with 322 Safeway (formerly Selig) stores, and changed the name to Safeway, Inc.

Today, there are more than 2,200 Safeway stores and they all share the founder’s value vision. Due to their commitment to providing exceptional service while offering affordable prices, Safeway has become one of the largest food and drug retailers in the country.

Therefore, we’ve decided to share with you 9 easy ways that will help you save money while shopping at Safeway.

1. Use the Safeway Club Card

The Safeway Club Card allows you to enjoy exclusive savings in Safeway stores and anytime you shop online at Safeway.com. With your Club Card, you’ll have access to special money-saving promotions, eCoupons, fuel discounts, and the Just For U program that will help you save money while shopping.

Club Cards are only available at your local Safeway store, but you can print the application at home and bring the completed form into the store.

When you want to use your Club Card, simply swipe it or enter your phone number associated with the account at checkout, and the savings will automatically be deducted and appear on the receipt.

2. Join the Just For U Program

Safeway’s Just for U program is designed to offer customized deals to all members. It tracks your purchases (via your club card) and uses the collected information to offer coupons and deals targeted specifically to you.

To start, you first have to sign up for your own Just for U account, which can be done at any store across the country or online. Next, log into your account through the Safeway website or app (Android and iOS). It will be automatically connected to your Safeway Club Card.

Once logged in, you’ll receive digital coupons, club deals, and personalized deals based on your shopping habits. New deals are available every Wednesday, but you have to log into your Just for U account to add new discounts and coupons to your card. Please note that just because new deals are listed in your account, it doesn’t mean they have been loaded on your card!

Digital Coupons – these coupons are only available for Just for U members. You save them to your card and use them at the checkout. The discount comes once you scan your Safeway Club Card. Safeway offers both store and manufacturer coupons and members can save as many coupons as they like.

Now, if you really want to save money at Safeway, you should take advantage of their amazing coupon policy and combine store coupons, manufacturer coupons, and deals (also known as stacking). Therefore, before shopping, make sure to log in and “load” the deals onto your card. And in case you forget to do so and do not use their smartphone app, simply ask a Safeway employee to give you access to a computer to load the deals.

Personalized Deals – this is an amazing perk, and our favorite one of the Just for U program. Safeway tracks items that you frequently buy and offers periodic savings on those particular products. By doing so, you receive personalized deals on items you really want to purchase. These will usually be amazing (cheap) prices on specific items just for you. With that being said, your personal deals won’t be the same as anyone else’s, as no two people buy exactly the same products.

For example, if you tend to purchase bananas frequently, Safeway will offer you a special price like $.45/lb and you can purchase as many pounds as you want. Once you reach checkout and scan your Safeway card, the price will be automatically adjusted and you’ll get your discount. And if you manage to find another coupon for bananas, you can use it as well.

In addition, Safeway will also show you prices of the same item at places like Amazon and Walmart so that you can see how much of a discount you are getting.

Club Specials – these are unadvertised deals available in your area that won’t be displayed in the weekly ad.

3. Use Catalina Deals

Catalina Deals, also known as Yourbucks, are a great way to save money at Safeway. A Catalina Deal is a coupon that prints out at the register once you complete a transaction. Catalina Deals are triggered by items that you purchase but require a certain dollar amount or quantity of product to be purchased. When you meet the requirements, a Catalina will print for a certain amount off your next purchase. In most cases, this could be any item in the store; however, sometimes the promotions will be available towards a specific product or a brand.

Catalinas are usually manufacturer coupons which can’t be combined with other manufacturer coupons. However, if you stumble upon a store coupon, you can combine it with the manufacturer coupons.

4. Collect Fuel Reward Points

One of the perks of having a Safeway Club Card is collecting the fuel points. By doing regular shopping at Safeway, you’ll earn 1 point for every dollar spent on pharmacy and grocery items and 2 points for every dollar spent on qualifying gift cards. Once you accumulate 100 points, you’ll receive 10 cents off per gallon on a single fill-up at participating Safeway stations.

5. Pay Attention to Grocery Markdowns

The best way to save money at Safeway is to take advantage of grocery markdowns. Safeway will mark down items for a few reasons:

  • The item is close to the expiration date
  • There was a change in packaging
  • The product is damaged
  • They need space to display something else
  • They no longer carry the product

Unfortunately, the days and times for markdowns vary by location and it will be difficult (if not impossible) to know exactly when they’ll reduce the price. Therefore, you should always open your eyes and check the whole store, especially the deli area. In addition, try to find orange markdown stickers – they offer an extra 50% off whatever the lowest marked price is. So for example, if a product is marked down 50% off and has the orange sticker, you’ll get an addition 25% discount, and only pay 25% of the price.

6. Use Rebate Apps

Rebate apps like Ibotta, Checkout 51, and Shopmium offer cash back on items that you purchase on a daily basis. They all work pretty much the same – you download the app, register, and locate offers. Once you activate the rebate (by doing simple tasks that last less than a minute) you just go to the store, scan the barcode, and upload the receipt.

After a while (it varies from app to app) your account is automatically loaded with points that you can redeem for money (usually via PayPal).

If you would like to learn more about these rebate apps, you can read our Rebate Guide.

7. Shop on Friday

Every Friday, Safeway has a special discount on a select number of items and offers even greater discounts than during the regular week. These “sales” last only one day, so make sure to be there and purchase the discounted products before they sell out. Some of the better items to watch for include seasonal produce, organic meats, deli offers, and Luvs diapers.

8. Use the Grocery Delivery

If you do not prefer online shopping but are curious about the price of an item, simply visit the Grocery Delivery section of the Safeway website and find the price. Please note that online and in-store prices are usually the same, but can sometimes be slightly different.

9. Find the Safeway Produce Magazine

You can sometimes find Safeway’s Fresh Ideas magazine in the produce department. This free magazine usually contains high-value produce coupons that will reduce the price on items you purchase frequently. If you can’t find the magazines in the store, ask the local produce manager to show you where they are displayed.

Takeaway Notes

Saving money at Safeway isn’t that difficult. You first need to sign up for the Club Card and join the Just For U program. These two easy steps alone will lead to big savings.

In addition, you should take advantage of Catalina Deals and always use rebate apps that offer cash back on items you are already purchasing. If you can, do your shopping on Friday when there are special discounts on several products, and pay attention to grocery markdowns and orange mark down stickers.

Finally, look for the Safeway Produce Magazine to find special coupons and don’t forget to save money on fuel by collecting points.

Easy Breakfast Casserole For Holiday Brunch

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. All opinions are mine alone. #MinuteMaidHoliday #CollectiveBias

The holidays are in full swing and we are already in full planning mode for parties and other family gatherings.  I love the holidays because I get to spend so much time with family and friends.  I love seeing the smiles on my kids faces when they open gifts.  I love sitting around laughing and telling jokes with my family.  It’s the best time of the year for me.  It’s also one of the most stressful times of the year as well.

casserole

My siblings and I always go to our parent’s home for Christmas.  When there were fewer grandkids we would all spend the night at their house and open gifts there.  Now that our family has grown we started with a new tradition of Christmas brunch and dinner together.  We only open the gifts we brought for each other at our brunch, and together my mom, sisters, and myself make dinner for the family.  It’s filled with amazing memories that we talk about all through the year.

dsc_0724

For brunch each of the siblings are responsible for bringing a dish for us to enjoy after opening presents.  I always make my Easy Breakfast Casserole, because the family loves it.  It’s super easy to make and it has all the best parts of breakfast in one dish.  When I make it I always bring orange juice to accompany the dish.  When I’m choosing orange juice I always pick Minute Maid Orange Juice.  I love shopping at Safeway because they have great specials, and I can always find the items I’m looking to purchase.

img_1659

img_1661

Safeway had a great sale on the Minute Maid Orange Juices, they were two boxes for six dollars.  I loved that it included both low pulp and no pulp since I refer no pulp in my juices and my huband like to have pulp in his juice.  The good thing about orange juice is that everyone loves it and whatever we don’t use for brunch we can use to make holiday drinks for during dinner.  So it’s a win-win.

img_1662

While I was at the store I noticed an awesome promotion from Coca-Cola and Shutterfly.  When you purchase four participating Coca-Cola products you earn $20 off at Shutterfly.

dsc_0733

Offer will be executed via Catalina print-out at register with unique pin code to redeem online.  The Shutterfly offer is valid through December 28th.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

It’s holiday baking season for me, I just love this time of year just because I can bake up a storm.  This year my family decided to have a cookie exchange and I’ve been looking for a variety of cookie recipes to add to our choices on Christmas Day.  We all love Chocolate Chip Cookies and I believe that these will be perfect for the chocolate lovers in our family.

Cookie Swap (8)

Chocolate Chip Cookies reminds me of a brownie with chocolate chips in cookie form.  I love baking mines so they are soft and chewy.  Some people in my family prefer a crunchy cookie, so go make that I bake a batch a little longer than I do the rest of the cookies.  These are best straight from the oven when the chocolate chips are still melty.  They can also be easily warmed up in the microwave as well for that same fresh from the oven taste.

Cinderella Beauty Cases (8)

The best part about this cookie recipe is that it can be adjusted to create lots of different flavor combinations.  I’ve used it create various flavor combinations.  You can add walnuts to the cookie if you like, peppermint pieces would be great for the holidays, or add some marshmallows to make a hot chocolate themed cookie.

Cookie Swap (4)

Since I’m preparing for holiday baking for our cookie exchange I headed out to Safeway to stock up on all my baking essentials.  Right now Safeway is running specials on their store brand baking products.  I stocked up on sugar, flour, and chocolate chips to help me with all my baking I have planned for the exchange.  These Chocolate Chip Cookies are perfect for Cookie Swaps or gifting this holiday season.  I hope you give this recipe a try or save it for later.

Shop Safeway Halloween Candy Specials

Shop Safeway Halloween Candy Specials

Halloween is literately right around the corner, it’s in a few days and if you haven’t had the opportunity to shop for treat to pass out on Saturday I suggest Safeway.  I love shopping at Safeway when they have great deals and specials.  We had the opportunity to visit the store to pick up some candy.  We wanted to grab some items to create a fun project I’d seen online with the kids.  While there we spotted lots of candy and great deals like Hershey chocolates where buy four and get a fifth bag for free.  They even had non candy treats like pencils & stickers and sugar free treats like pretzels & popcorn.

We walked around the store and found all kinds of treats that would be perfect for Halloween.  Our store had tons of candy at the front of the store making it easy for shoppers to grab their favorites to pass out or to keep for themselves.  They even had some football themed and other fall themed candies in that section.

The kids and I wanted to do something fun for some of the children in our building.  We had read about booing your neighbors so we searched and found some great printables to get us started.  The poems vary and it depends on what you want to put on your package.  We made small treat bags but you can choose any size you want.

We decided on different treats for each bag.  One was for a neighbor’s daughter who doesn’t go out trick or treating.  We choose a non-candy treat for her from the box of goodies we received from Peeps.  The kids though one of the stuffed toys would be great for her.  For the other bags we enclosed a mix of the candies we picked up from Safeway.  Each boo bag had a few pieces of candy, stickers, a pencil and a small pack of Goldfish.  The kids loved dropping the little treats at their friends doors with the notes attached.

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders

Summer is not summer without some grilling.  Apartment living can make that challenging at times but we try to get out to the park to grill as much as we can.  For the days when we can’t make it outdoors we end up using my T-Fal OptiGrill for all our grilling needs.  It’s just the right size and it doesn’t pick up a huge amount of storage space.  I’ve used it for all kinds of grilling from veggies, fish, shrimp, steaks, chicken, pork and of course burgers.  I’ve been obsessed with sliders lately, they are just the right size and I never feel like I am over eating when I have two.  I recently partnered with Safeway and shared with you a delicious Summer Berries Fruit Salad, it’s the perfect dish to take advantage of all those berries on sale during the summer.  This week I am sharing a simple sliders recipe that you can customize to make you own.  Safeway sent me a gift card to shop and create summer recipes that my family likes to share with you.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

Bacon_Blue_Cheese_Sliders

I wanted to make the sliders because I found some patties that were already made at our local Safeway.  Sometimes they have them in the ground beef section.  Safeway has been having lots of great meat specials lately and I like this idea because I didn’t have to form the patties myself and it was at a really good price.

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders (6)

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders (8)

I also found some Blue Cheese Crumbles for only $4 a container and figured it would be great to add on top of the burger.  I love the saltiness that it adds to food.  It was a no brainer for me to add it on burgers instead of the regular American Cheese or Cheddar we would add.

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders (11)

Bacon Blue Cheese Burger Sliders (10)

I’ve been trying to cut down on the greasy food that our family eats.  Now when we have burgers that we make at home I always make homemade fries.  I have done it different ways each time but the family loves when I cut them into disks instead of wedges.  These are so easy to make.  I use russet potatoes for baking potatoes and mashes potatoes.  I wash them off and dry them.  Cut them in round disks and pat them dry to remove excess water and then drizzle with olive and sprinkle with seasoning to taste.  Bake in the oven at 415 degrees.  I usually bake for fifteen minutes per side.  Make sure you get as much moisture out of the potatoes before baking so they are crispy.  These have a nice crunch on the outside and it’s soft on the inside.  If you want it more crispy bake longer.

This week Safeway has lots of great specials including ground beef (80/20) for $3.99 per pound.  They also have bacon on sale and the blue cheese regular price is $4 per container.  Be sure to check out some of their other great specials like Pillsbury Cookie Dough, Fruit Snacks and Gushers, just to name a few.  Plus for parents preparing for back to school purchase 10 box tops items and receive 60 eBoxTops to donate to your child’s school.

Summer Berries Fruit Salad

Summer Berries Fruit Salad

One of my favorites things about summer is the good prices on all the berries.  During the summer months you get the best sale prices on Strawberries, Blueberries and other summer season berries.  When our family when to the beach for Memorial day and to celebrate two of our son’s birthday’s I had made a fruit salad and the family just loved it.  Fresh fruit salad during the summer is great because you get to enjoy lots of great fruits that are fresh and not out of a can or swimming in syrup.  Safeway recently had and continue to have awesome summer berries on sale so when I found Strawberries on sale for $2.99 for a two-pound container and Blueberries were three pints for $5 or $1.67 a pint.  At those prices I knew another Summer Berries Fruit Salad was in the works.

When shopping for berries in the summer I like to make sure they are fresh and sweet.  One thing I like about our local Safeway Supermarket is that they sell fresh local produce so I know I am supporting local farmers.  That also means I don’t have to get up early to get to the farmers market.  When making a fruit salad you can out just about anything into the mix as long as your family would like it.  For example I always put Pineapple in mines.  It reminds me of my birth country Trinidad and the kids all love the fresh Pineapple.  Other times I may put in some watermelon.  Our Memorial Day salad included watermelon.  I used a melon baller to scoop small balls of watermelon for the fruit salad.  My dad loved that the most.  This time I changed things up a bit with some input from my husband and daughter.

New to our fruit salad mix this time was Raspberries and Kiwi.  I forgot Watermelon when I made my run to Safeway that day so I didn’t have it for this salad.  I didn’t even realize it until I was done and noticed it had room in the serving pan for fresh fruit.

berry fruit salad (1)

I like to make my fruit salad in layers, it just works better for us that way.  You can however mix as you go so when it’s time to serve your guests will receive a nice mix of fruit.  I start by washing all my grapes and removing them from the stem.  I remove any bad grapes during this process and then pat dry to remove excess water before adding to my serving dish.  Next I wash the blueberries the same way, to remove bad berries and excess water.  My next step this time was peeling and slicing up the kiwi.  Next time I think I’ll put it on top because kiwi smashes up easily.

My next layer was the Strawberries and Raspberries.  I washed the berries to make sure they were clean.  Make sure remove excess water from the Raspberries because water can get inside the hallow opening of the berries.  Cut the top of the strawberries and then cut into quarters, smaller berries can be cut into halves.

berry fruit salad (6)

berry fruit salad (7)

berry fruit salad (8)

berry fruit salad (9)

My final step was the pineapple.  If you’ve never peeled a fresh pineapple before be prepared to work and to clean up afterwards.  The first step is making sure you have a very sharp knife.  Next cut off the top and bottom of the pineapple.  Then cut off the rough skin from around the pineapple, cut the peeled pineapple in half.  Take the first half and cut out the core of the pineapple, repeat with the second half.  Slice and cut each slice into two pieces.

Fresh pineapple that are nice and ripe has lots of juice so make sure you have a rag or paper towels close by to clean up the counter to use a cutting board for quicker clean up.  The fruits I used are just a few of the options for fruit salad.  Some people like to include oranges, watermelon and other melons are great in fruit salad, cherries, blackberries and so much more.

From now through July, 14th, Safeway shoppers in the Maryland area can enjoy super sale specials on berries, grapes and watermelon.  They even offer sale pricing on organic berries for shoppers who prefer organic fruit.  So head out and pick up some of your own berries and other fruit to make you own Summer Berries Fruit Salad.  Your family will enjoy the fresh fruit, and it’s a healthier alternative to junk foods and sugary sweets for a snack time option.

Every year my family and I start the summer out by celebrating two of my son’s birthdays on Memorial Day.  It’s also our countdown to summer.  This year was no different.  We planned a huge BBQ at our regular park for us and our family.  I had the opportunity to shop Safeway specials for family events.  I received a gift card to shop Safeway, any opinions expressed are my own.

Going to the park is a tradition for us, every year on Memorial Day we all pack up and head out first thing in the morning.  We started about five years ago and we’ve been doing it every year ever since.  This year our regular park was packed so we had to try a new state park in Maryland.  We ended up at Fort Lee State Park for our family gathering and it was such a great experience.  This particular park had free admission although the parking lot was very small so if you want good parking you must arrive early.

The park was filled with old relics of the fort that was turned into a park.  It even has a hunted dungeon in another section of the park.  I didn’t spend much time around there, it gave me the creeps.  LOL.  Planning for the day started the day before for me.  I wanted to make these TMNT Surprise Cupcakes I found on Pinterest.

My oldest son is a huge TMNT fan and I was hoping the cupcakes would be a huge hit.  The first batch was a little under baked but the second batch was perfect.  Let me tell you trying to dye the cake batter to red didn’t go over well.  The purple was much more vibrant after baking but overall they were a hit once iced with homemade buttercream frosting.

Save When Shopping Safeway Specials

Safeway Upgrades to USDA Choice Beef

Safeway Upgrades to USDA Choice Beef

If you’ve been in a Safeway store in the Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia area you may have noticed that all their Eastern Division stores have upgrades from Rancher’s Reserve to USDA Choice Beef.  “The USDA grading system communicates to the consumer a level of confidence in both the safety and quality of the products they represent,” says Safeway Eastern Division President Steve Burnham.   “Choice beef is extremely high quality, just with a little less marbling than Prime. Choice roasts and steaks from the loin and rib will be tender, juicy, and flavorful, well suited for dry-heat cooking.”  As a shopper that means you are getting a higher quality product.  This works great for me because we can’t always get out to a fancy steak house, so now we can stop by Safeway and get a nice steak for dinner.  Safeway sent me a giftcard to head out to my local store to purchase and try their new offerings with my family.  Any opinions expressed are my own.

Safeway Beef Selections

Occasionally I love to get a good steak. When I was pregnant with my toddler it was one of my cravings.  When shopping for steak for dinner Safeway is always my first choice because I know they have high quality steak.  When I learned of the new selections I couldn’t wait to go out and try some for dinner.  With four kids our family tends to end up at restaurants the kids pick so a steak house is out of the running almost always.  It was nice to learn that Safeway new offerings were the highest quality for commercial stores. “Choice is generally the highest quality beef available in consumer retail as Prime is typically reserved for commercials kitchens in restaurants and hotels,” Burnham says.  “Here at Safeway, it’s critical that we maintain a viable balance between the quality of our product and the price point at which we deliver that product to the consumer.  By offering USDA Choice meats to our shoppers, we can unequivocally promise a top-quality beef product at reasonable prices.”

Upgrading to choice wasn’t all that Safeway recently did either.  They are also expanding their produce offerings to include fresh-cut fruits and vegetables, available in refrigerated “grab-and-go” cases from their two present locations into approximately 30 new stores over the next two months.  “Our newest stores – in Upper Marlboro and Alexandria (King St.) – opened with these cases and the fresh-cut product,” Burnham said.  “The response was so positive that we are now retrofitting another 30 stores.”  The addition of fresh-cut fruits and vegetables – all prepared on-site by each store’s produce staff – offers consumers the convenience of purchasing a wide assortment of items from basics such as diced onions, sliced peppers, melons, strawberries and fruit salad to hummus and salsa.  “These products, all value-priced, provide a healthy-lifestyle alternative for our customers,” Burnham says.

Safeway had so many great selections that I wasn’t sure what I want to make for dinner besides the steak.  I knew seafood was going to be on the menu as well because Surf and Turf sounded like a great way to go.  So we checked out their seafood offerings and ended up getting some fresh shrimp for dinner that night and some frozen shrimp for later that week.

I couldn’t wait to get home and make dinner that night.  I had a full menu planned.  For my the adults I made Deviled Eggs, Avocado Deviled Eggs, Steamed Broccoli, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Shrimp Scampi and Grilled Steaks.  I made some baked chicken strips for the kids because they don’t eat steak.  I also made a Lemon Velvet Cake with Lemon Buttercream Frosting for dessert.  Everything was amazing.  We even got fresh cut flowers for the dinner table at Safeway.  Check out our delicious dinner below.

We truly enjoyed our dinner and we plan to do it often thanks to the amazing selection of USDA Choice Steak at Safeway.  So next time you’re looking for a great steak shop Safeway.

Here’s How to #ShopSmarter at Safeway and Save

I remember when I was in college and gas was just $1.00 a gallon.  Those were the days are like ancient history now so I am always looking for ways that I can save at the pump.  I love shopping at Safeway because they offer gas rewards, and with my rewards card they even offer special offers for double or triple points.  That means even more savings at the pump for me.  Right now you can save over $20 by buying gift cards before you shop, dine or hit the town.  Savvy shoppers can triple dip on savings this week when they purchase multi-pack gift cards.

Here’s How It Works:

  1. Promotional Offer – 15% off gift card multi-packs from 8/16 through 8/19 (offer valid on Fandango, TGIF, Xbox, Cold Stone or iHOP)
  2. Fuel Rewards – Safeway offers double-fuel points for every dollar you spend on gift cards redeemable at Safeway, Chevron, or Texaco stations ($1 = 2 fuel points). Requires Club Card. To find out more about Safeway’s fuel rewards program click here.
  3. Earn credit card rewards points /savings on your purchase (e.g. 3% back on groceries, miles, or earn points)

Here’s how the MATH works on a $100 participating multi-pack purchase = $20+ Savings

  1. $15 off – when you purchase $100 in multi-pack cards
  2. $3 off when you fill up your tank. (avg. $.17 off per gallon).
  3. $2.55 off if you earn 3% back on your credit card grocery purchases.

What gift card would you purchase if you were heading to Safeway to save?  I would purchase the Fandango multi pack.  They would make great birthday and holiday gifts for my family, especially my older niece and nephews.  Everyone loves going to the movies.  Plus the gas savings is an even better saving bonus for me.  If you have a Safeway card be sure to visit the rewards page before shopping to maximize your earnings of fuel points.

Save on Breakfast with Safeway

Being a stay at home mother is great but it also means our family has to survive on one income.  My husband works hard to earn a pay check and it’s my job to learn way and tricks to stretch those dollars to make sure our family has all our needs and even some of our wants.  It’s one of the reason’s I’ve started couponing and shopping based on sales.  I’m the Savings Queen of Stephensville (our house).  If I can’t save some money on something then I don’t want to buy it at all.  It’s important to save on everything our family uses, that includes clothes, household items, travel and food.  One way we save on food is by maximizing on supermarket sales, like the Buy 4, save $4 #BreakfastSavings promotion going on at Safeway and it’s affiliate stores.

Safeway1

To properly prepare for any grocery shopping trip I make sure I grab a sales circular and with Safeway I head online to my Just4U account.  I love their Just4U savings because I get personalized deals just for me based on items I buy often and I also get to see club specials just for my store.  I can also load digital manufacturer’s and store coupons on my card so I don’t have to worry about forgetting them during the check out process.  Once I’ve seen all the sales and match coupons with the items I plan to pick up for my family I head to the store ready to shop.  Before you go shopping make sure you clip any coupons you have and store them in a place you will remember when checking out.  Also you can read my article about Money Saving Apps to save you before and after you go shopping.

This trip we focused on ways to save on breakfast with Safeway.  Their current #BreakfastSavings sale made it so easy to get everything we needed for ourselves and we were also able to grab my mom some of her favorite coffee and creamer for a great price.  Since my husband has a long commute for work and he usually leaves the house at 5:30 AM, my focus is always finding quick, easy to eat, somewhat healthy and filling breakfast ideas for him since he’s eating in the car.  That’s why I was so excited to grab items he likes that will give him just the right amount of energy for starting his very long days.

savings

Since the goal for us is always about saving money it feels so good going to the store and seeing the savings applied to my order and when I finished checking out I can see that we saved 48% on our bill by shopping the sale and also using a few coupons.  You can see more about my shopping tips to Safeway and see some of the great deals I found in store by visiting my Google+ #BreakfastSavings album.

When we have early mornings the kids just grab a quick breakfast of cereal and apple juice to give them some energy to get their days started.

This is my breakfast of choice while I am blogging today.  My tummy is already thanking me for the breakfast biscuits.  Just the right amount of energy to keep me going until lunch.  Now I should be able to do better about skipping breakfast when I am busy.  You can also see how other moms are saving on breakfast and ways they feed their families breakfast by visiting the site Rise and Shine with Savings.  You can also help share breakfast with other children.  All it takes is a quick tweet, share, pin or watch a video and you can help with reaching the goal.  So please take a few moments and click the banner below and share a breakfast today.
